Achieving a “Natural Summer Look”

I’m back!

I’ve decided today’s topic would be about the Natural Summer look mainly inspired by Ariana Grande’s British Vogue Cover July ’18 I have been in awe since the release of the photoshoot as Ariana looks absolutely stunning with this look.

I am in no way a self-proclaimed/self taught MUA or Beauty Blogger/Vlogger/Expert, what have you. I do what I feel is comfortable for me. In more recent months, I typically go about my days with an all natural bare face as there is just too little of time in the day to put in effort into my facial appearance. On occasion, if I feel a higher self-esteem vibe going on, I’ll do 5 minute brows and head out to start my day.

The natural summer look is more of a running errands on the weekend vibe. I also like to think of it as a “Hey, look at my outfit because my face isn’t entirely complete today!”

To start out this look, I used the following products in the picture below:

(Edit: There are some products not pictured that were used)

I first started filling my brows in with Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil in Shade 3. I love this brow pencil as it creates for me a soft natural looking eyebrow. The tip is angled much like korean beauty products that creates a quick and easy method of filling in the brows.

After filling in and brushing out my brows with the end spoolie, I quickly cleaned up with Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in the shade Light. This has been my favorite concealer because it not only cleans up, but highlights as well! I’ve been using this for the last 2-3 years. It’s also my only go-to concealer as I am lazy and this comes with a brush applicator. When you squeeze/turn the bottom, the concealer comes through the brush which allows you to apply just directly to the face. (If I am feeling extra, I take a more fine brush to apply the concealer to my brows.) I clean up by outlining the desired shape of my brows and blend out with a dampened Real Technique’s Miracle Mini Eraser Sponge The size of this makeup sponge is perfect for cleaning up the brows.

With a fluffy eyeshadow brush, I like to add the shade Sandalwood from Huda Beauty Rose Gold (Remastered) Palette. (I currently own the original palette, however Sandalwood is still a shade in the newer version) I then used a blending brush to soften the shadow and lightly lined with Tarte’s Sex Kitten Eyeliner in the shade Black I did not finish off my eyes with mascara as I wear glasses and didn’t find it necessary for my look.

Moving forward to the rest of the face, I used an angled contour brush from Sonia Kashuk to softly and lightly contour my cheekbones, jawline, temples, and forehead. I then went through with a smaller fluffier brush to contour my nose. Contouring was achieved through a combination of the two brown shades in the picture above from Tarte’s Holiday 2018 Collection. (A link for this product was unable to be found)

I topped the cheeks off with Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in the shade Paaarty using a fluffy blush brush also from Sonia Kashuk. The highlighter used was Huda Beauty’s 3D Highlighter Palette in Golden Sands. Since I was trying to achieve a natural summer look, I only used Fiji to prep and finished off with Seychilles to highlight. Highlight was applied to tip of nose, above the brow, and highest points of cheeks.

I filled in my entire lips with NYX’s Lip Liner in the shade Mauve then topped off with Chapstick’s Total Hydration Tinted Moisturizer in the shade Coral Blush. I also wear this Chapstick product on a daily basis as it gives me a more natural and self-desirable and hydrated lip color as opposed to my crustier pale natural lips.

For the hair, I blow dried with ProBeautyTool’s Hair Dryer on the Hot High Setting, while brushing outward with my standard Wet Hair Brush. I set my desired hair with the Cold High Setting. I did this partly to experiment an article I had read on Kate Middleton’s Hair Style where setting your hair with cold air can help it set for the rest of the day. I finished off with my all-time-favorite-been-using-since-my-pre-teenage-years hairspray TresEmme Tres Two Spray

Finally, to complete my entire look, I spritzed (I’m being generous here, but I actually drenched) myself with Miss Dior’s Blooming Bouquet This was a gift from my boyfriend as I had been looking to buy it for the last year and make it my signature scent for the rest of my life.

To finish my look, I applied my seeing aids, aka my Michael Kors Glasses so I could see appropriately.

Hope you found this an interesting read as I’ve been gone a very long time working on different projects and hobbies in my time off from Uni. Hoping to bring you more satisfying blogs soon!
